B.S. Radar - Prophetic Edition

B.S. Radar - Prophetic Edition

The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgements…”

—1 Corinthians 2:15, NIV

Let’s say it without blinking, sisters: God did not put a badge on your chest so you could stand here and pretend you do not see what is right in front of you. He put steel in your spirit and discernment in your bones. That twitch in your face when someone starts with “I wasn’t doing anything, officer” is not attitude. It is anointing. It is the Spirit whispering, Pay attention, daughter. Truth is shifting in the room.

Ma’am. Sir. Sweet summer child. You cannot imagine how many versions of “I swear” we have heard. Slurred, shouted, whispered, weaponized, rehearsed, and delivered with Oscar-worthy confidence while standing in a stolen vehicle. Humanity is creative. Sin is predictable. And no, we did not fall off the patrol turnip truck.

Here is the prophetic truth under the humor: this radar was not handed to you. It was forged. Nobody walks out of the academy with spiritual x-ray vision. Discernment is built call by call, lie by lie, year by year. The hard way. The holy way. By refusing to look away when it would have been easier to shrug and move on. That is not cynicism. That is sanctified discipline.

Scripture names it plainly:

“But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.”

—Hebrews 5:14

You did not wake up with discernment. You trained it. You sharpened it. You stewarded it. Every domestic call where the air felt wrong, every traffic stop where the story did not match the eyes, every gut check that made your heart stand still was spiritual reps. God built you to be sharp on purpose. Your B.S. radar is not sass; it is holy skill.

Two prophetic truths before we pray:

  1. Your discernment is a shield for the vulnerable.

  2. Your accuracy is not arrogance. It is assignment.

Some of you are reading this on four hours of sleep, cold coffee, and the fumes of righteous irritation. I see you. This is not a devotional telling you to soften your edges. It is telling you that God is not asking you to disable the very gift He carved into you. He is asking you to aim it correctly. Aim it at truth, not at your own exhaustion.

Sharp does not mean bitter. Discerning does not mean joyless. You can clock the lie and still laugh at the creativity of human nonsense. Honestly, some of these stories deserve applause for effort.

So tonight, or between calls, or in the parking lot catching your breath, let your radar rest for a moment. It is still on. It is always on. But you do not carry it alone. The One who trained you carries it with you.

A Closing Prayer

Lord, thank You for sharpening what You placed in me. Thank You for eyes that catch what others miss and a spirit that refuses to be talked out of truth. When I am tired, keep my discernment kind. When cynicism creeps close, remind me why You trained me in the first place. Guard my heart the way I guard this community with vigilance and with grace. Cover my sisters tonight. Bring us home safe, sharp, steady, and still able to laugh.

In Jesus’ beautiful and mighty name, Amen.

Until next time…

Keep being Beautiful You!
